What’s a RPPN?

The Private Reserve of natural Proprerty, knows as RPPN too, are areas of nature conservation in those privates’ proprerties. The RPPN’s aim is to propetc the representations ambient’s resources of the region, in private areas, where are just accepted activities with scientific purpose, cultural, educational, recreative and leisure. It’s admitted economics activities, like apiculture, the sale of handcrafts and the ecotourism too, if inside of development’s parameters necessaries to the protect, looking always the sustainability. These activities can’t compromise the integrity of the naturals resources protects there. It’s forbid any kind of extrativism, hunting and fishing, capture of animals, retreat of plants, deforestation, wood’s burn and other acts damage to the environment. It’s unities conservation of permanent character, which makes with even if this lands will be sell or inherit in the future, the new landowner can’t change the ambient, because the recongnition’s title of the reserve in irrevocable.

RPPN Pedra do Cachorro, first reserve of the biome Caatinga, recognized by Government of Pernambuco, is situated in São Caetano. It’s 20km from Caruaru and 153 km from Recife. It’s one of the highest points of the state. What permits that in can be seen more than 60 km of distance, in fact, awake the curiosity of many people to know it more near.

Dominated by kinds of vegetation with xerophyte’s characteristics. It’s an exclusive Brasilian biome, but its biodiversities is one of the less knows in the world. However Unesco already recognized it as Biosphere’s reserve.
